You Should Know #PedalMAW
There are lots of people pushing the ball forward in the sustainability, thrifting and fashion. One of these people that you should know is Makayla Wray, also known as PedalMAW.

I first learned about Makayla and her work as a seamstress from this cool video from Business Insider:
It details how Makayla turned an old hotdog cart into a mobile tailoring station. Not only does she give a second life to her customers' clothes but all the equipment on the cart was either found or repurposed. I like how she states that even fast fashion clothes should be repaired because at the end of the day it's still fabric. A lot of times the thinking goes that since a piece of clothing was cheap or the fabric was cheap that the wearer shouldn't try to extend the life of it, but it's still worth trying to extend the life of the garment so the fabric doesn't end up in the landfill prematurely. According to the video "70% of the fibers produced each year end up in the landfill".
By adopting reuse and mending consumers can extend the life of their clothes, add a unique touch to their garments and reduce the amount of clothing waste they send to the landfill. Check out more of Makayla's work below.
